Novint Falcon Reimagines Video Game Controllers

Novint Falcon

There haven’t been too many big leaps forward in how you control video games over the past couple of decades. First there was the joystick, then the control pad. Sure, they’ve added thumbsticks to new controllers, and the Wiimote is pretty innovative to be sure, but there hasn’t been anything 100% completely different. Well, prepare yourself for something totally new: the Novint Technologies Falcon 3D Force Feedback Game Controller.

This thing certainly doesn’t look anything like any controller you’ve ever seen. It’s a big ball with a smaller ball attached in front of it by a series of arms. In order to use it, you grab the small ball and push it around. If you hit a wall in the game, the ball will stop as well. It provides amazing force feedback, letting you really feel the surface texture and shape of objects in front of you. It’ll change the way you play games, especially first person shooters, and it’s certainly a huge change of pace from what you’re used to. Hey, change is good, right?
